Scrap Car Price Update June 2020

Posted on 30th Jun 2020 by Rebecca Currier Posted in: Latest News

In June we saw some further easing to Coronavirus lockdown measures, though it’s still having an impact on our day to day lives and our businesses. After the drop to prices being paid for scrap cars in April and May, we’re happy to report that scrap car prices seem to be recovering. Though we haven’t picked up to pre-lockdown prices, June has seen a welcome rise. Scrap car prices climbed 7% higher than those in May, plus June’s prices were higher than January’s and a whopping 28% higher than those this time last year.

The CarTakeBack Customer Services Team continue to safely make arrangements for you to sell your scrap car. You can take advantage of our free scrap car collection, our collectors are following guidance on social distancing and hygiene. Collections will only be carried out when it is safe to do so, for both our staff and for you.

About the CarTakeBack Scrap Car Price Index

The CarTakeBack Scrap Car Price Index is updated monthly using the prices on offer for scrap cars at CarTakeBack recycling centres throughout Australia. It is intended to give an indication of the movement in the price from one month to another, with the prices being shown as a percentage. Cars come in all shapes and sizes which has an effect on their scrap value, so prices have been adjusted to show what the average car would be worth.
