We might scrap cars everyday, but we love them! And we know how sentimental you get about your wheels. To celebrate Valentine’s Day, we asked our customers and staff around the globe what car they’ve owned they’ve loved the most…
“She was my baby. It was my first car my Citroën C2 VTR. It was also the car I passed my test in. Two days later after passing my driving test the car blew its head gasket 💪 I really miss that little go cart. It even had enough room for a set of golf clubs in the boot – miss that little car.”
“As a lifelong MG fan, I viewed my MG3 as a piece of history of sorts. It was a great car with loads of life left in it until someone unceremoniously ploughed into the back of it. I miss that car!”
“I loved this car! It was one of my first cars that I bought myself… This is me sat inside eating toast 😊 It was a soft top but the weather was rubbish for about a month after buying it! The girls and I finally went out in it with the roof down thinking we were so cool… Then it started to rain again and we all got soaked 😊 The rain never dampened my love for the car though…”
“I loved my little Peugeot 207 which I bought in 2009, the best purchase I ever made. The most reliable car I could ask for, so easy to drive and it never once broke down on me! It followed me through my various life stages like a little companion. The time came for needing a bigger car, so in early 2025 it was goodbye.”
“My car means a lot to me because I’ve traveled all over Spain and Portugal with it, sleeping inside with my dog Loli and my surf and skateboards. Being a family car, it fits everything I need for my trips perfectly, and I can sleep comfortably inside. It’s a car that eats up the kilometers on the road, and you don’t even feel the long journeys because it’s so comfortable.”
“My dad was given this car as part payment for a handmade Bentley that he repainted (he’s a paint sprayer by trade). She is a Series 1, 1948 Land Rover and was originally a British army vehicle. It was black with a hardtop roof, so at 14 years old me and a friend helped dismantle it, put a soft top roof on and repaint it in its original army colours. Now, we regularly take her to the beach for weekends away – this is her on the Noosa North Shore, Sunshine Coast in Queensland. Most recently, my son and his friends insisted I pick them up for their Graduation. She’s a dearly loved member of our family and still has her original UK plates alongside her Queensland plates.”
“It’s the black Mercedes C180 sport, which I had to send to you because the RSA changed the rules and insisted the front headlamps on the car were reattached, which would have cost too much to complete and made it more economical to scrap and buy a new car. But there were 16 years of memories in that car and it brought my two children home from hospital when they were born and took us on so many trips across Ireland as a family. That’s why I’ll miss it so much. A real gem which gave me no trouble and all the driving pleasure in the world. 😢.”
“My favourite car is the one you took off me last month; my 2008 Chrysler 300C estate, pictured here near Cairn Gorm in Scotland. The car took me and my dog on many adventures, as far as John O’Groats, Devon & Cornwall and everywhere in between, including all 15 UK National Parks. The car was unusual and turned heads everywhere I went and people would ask me about it when I parked it. It was also supremely comfortable, even for long drives. Unfortunately, I had to get rid of the car as parts were difficult to obtain (as well as it enjoying quite large quantities of diesel). So, I made the grown-up decision to see it go. I definitely didn’t cry, but there may have been something in my eye.”
“Had this car 18 years done me so well. Didn’t want to get rid of this car but needed a bigger car for my job with all the tools that I carried. Good run around car, bit sad I got rid of her. Was in good condition as well.”
“My most loved car was my 1998 Mitsubishi Lancer, a beautiful car for cruising. The sunroof made summers absolutely perfect. She was in great condition, had so much character and holds many memories. Even brought me all the way from Cork to Dublin with no issues.”
“A 1977 Toyota Landcruiser BJ40 Bseries was the greatest restoration nightmare I have ever undertaken. It took me 3 years to restore from the ground up. Shipped from Australia on 19th May 2019, it landed here at my garage in Clondalkin. We researched the world for parts, buying in Australia, Canada, America, Portugal, Spain, and in South Africa we dug up a BJ40 in the Wicklow Mountains just to source a bracket for the spare wheel. We manufactured every metal panel we needed on site and even made the rear tail lamps out of aluminium panels, making bulb holders out of old Toyota parts from a scrap yard. It was a fantastic project and the end result is amazing.”
“Bob was the first car I bought after learning to drive, I’d always wanted a Mini so I loved him from day one! We had some great adventures over the years and he lasted to a ripe old age. I own Frances the Mini Clubman now… I like to think Bob would approve – she’s lovely too!“
“This is Vinnie the Vectra. He was in good use for 10 plus years and was a brilliant, reliable motor, that was always being used to help others out when needed…Until his poor gearbox decided to over crunch and sadly not select gear.. Boooo! RIP Vinnie ☹ – you are much missed.”
If you want to tell us about the car you’ve owned that you’ve loved the most then get in touch! We’d love to hear from you and see a photo of your most loved wheels.
If your favourite car has sadly come to the end of its days, then we can help you say goodbye and that starts with an instant quote for your old car. We promise to take care of it, and if it’s ready to scrap it will be responsibly recycled… It may even end up as a new car for someone else to love!
