Scrap Car Price Update November 2021

Posted on 6th Dec 2021 by Rebecca Currier Posted in: Latest News

After four consecutive months of price increases, in November the average scrap car value has taken a dip. With just a 2% drop, prices are still high. Despite the decrease, it’s still five consecutive months where the average value of a scrap car with CarTakeBack has been over $500!

November Average Scrap Car Price $531

Although month on month prices have taken a slight hit, the average scrap car prices are up by 50% compared to November 2020. Prices could keep above $500 as we move into December, though as always with scrap metal valuations, they can change dramatically. Our scrap car prices are valid for seven days, so if prices do fall, you’ll still get the best price for your car.

The value of your scrap car is dependent on various factors, including the global demand for scrap metal, as well as the make, model, age, weight, condition and location of your car.

About the CarTakeBack Scrap Car Price Index

The CarTakeBack Scrap Car Price Index is a rolling monthly index covering the last 13 months. It’s updated monthly using the prices paid for scrap cars at CarTakeBack recycling centres throughout Australia. We’ve taken into account that cars come in all shapes and sizes, which has an effect on their scrap value, the prices show what the average car would be worth. This means that the index gives a great indication of the movement in the value of scrap cars from one month to another.

Top cars scrapped in November 2021

The top model scrapped – Taking the place of the Toyota Corolla, a fellow Toyota, the Camry, was the most frequently scrapped car at CarTakeBack recycling centres. With an average value of $765 in November the Toyota Camry was 44% higher than the general value of scrap cars.
